Nearly 7 in 10 children in our community don’t have access to preschool or childcare. Make Way for Books is working to create access to meaningful learning opportunities for all children. Our Cover to Cover program meets young children and families in community locations that families already visit, bringing fun early literacy programming to children and families throughout southern Arizona. Our latest session reaches families at one of Tucson’s most popular summer gathering spots—The Tanque Verde Swap Meet!
At Cover to Cover, Make Way for Books transforms community locations into mobile early literacy classrooms where children and families participate in interactive storytimes and learn ways to makes books and reading a part of their daily lives. We set up our mobile early literacy classroom, share stories, sing songs, share literacy tips with parents, and give out lots of free books!
Cover to Cover will continue at the Swap Meet every Saturday at 6:30 pm through June 20th. Look for the Make Way for Books sign in Aisle 7 by the mercado. We hope to see you there!
